How are you liking 2014 so far? It's fine by me.
"The Simpsons" this past week was really funny... they did a great episode about online downloading. "Family Guy" was not so great.
I had lots of computer problems the past two weeks, so I'm sorry, but we have no soap transcripts for a little while until I can find a solution. The computer I was using for them has died, so I have to find another computer (it's kind of complicated). But we'll catch up, don't worry! I know we're still missing some from last summer, too, due to my moving.
This week I did a lot of interviews with actors, actresses, showrunners, writers, and producers. I have some of them up and we should have some more in the next few days.
Also, we have a lot of new TV show reviews up and more coming!
Now you know what I've been spending most of my time doing! Watching DVD's and new shows.
I've also been catching up on some of the primetime shows on my DVR like Once Upon a Time (my favorite!), Wonderland, Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Reign, The Originals, Revenge and South Park. I can't wait for some of these shows to come back.
I wrote this article about the Y&R drama behind the scenes, and there is more news every week, which I will add or link to as it comes in.
There's a new web soap that sounds promising, but I haven't had time to watch it yet, called "Tainted Dreams". I heard it's funny. There are so many great things to watch, and so little time!
I'm still mourning the loss of Soapnet. Last week it went off the air for good. Even though it was often disappointing (in which shows they aired, particularly the classic ones), I loved that channel and it really came in handy. If I missed a soap during the day, for whatever reason, Soapnet had it later, or on the weekend. It was so useful. It also showed a lot of older soaps, and it had many great specials as well as some good series like Veronica Mars. Also, it had some very good soap opera shows like Soap Center, Soap Talk and 1 Day with. I really miss it already. The TV Guide Network is now showing daily re-runs of Y&R and B&B, but I don't get that channel on my cable. Bummer!!! They should show old episodes, too. I used to love watching old episodes of "Ryan's Hope" and "Another World" on Soapnet.
It's actually harmful to my website that we no longer have Soapnet because here in Honolulu, Days, GH and Y&R all air at the same time, so I was able to record some of them on Soapnet later on. Now I have to record one of them on the DVR in my bedroom, which is kind of a pain. It means I have to put it on DVD and then run the transcript in the living room from the DVD. It just means extra work for me, and rushing around, etc. But also it means that if a show gets interrupted here, or my DVR get full, or anything, I've lost it.
Thank you, ABC, for having Soapnet in the first place. I wish you had understood how valuable it was and how you could have made it even better - just like "All My Children", "One Life to Live", and "Port Charles", you wasted the potential.
Oh, that reminds me, part of a letter I sent to Soap Opera Digest was printed again. It was in the December 30 issue, page 95. I made it into an article on my site. They printed most of the first paragraph.
Lots of great new shows airing now in the mid-season premiere time! Look for the reviews on our site.
